It is so nice living only a block down from the parade route.
You just never know what will come marching down the street towards the plaza! I have thumbnailed all the pictures to make the page load faster. Just click
on them to enlarge! Since the festivals are a constant occurrence here in the village, this will be the
picture page! Enjoy
Three Kings Day at the Plaza ..with Kings!!
Chili Cook Off Parade -The man on the beautiful grey
horse is Juan our gardener
Mardi Gras- Fat Tuesday -Harry actually got caught
up in the flour pelting and some of it got on the camera lens. He was major
upset that it marred his pictures. The gold lame drag queen in the pick up truck
was VERY suggestive.
Whole month of October- Feast of the Virgin of the Rosary.. Last day
procession
November Festivities -
There will be a morning procession every day,
beginning the 22nd to end up at the church at 8am. There is a procession every
night beginning from 6 corners at 6:30 to end up at the church at 7.
The first is the day of the Musicians (The day of Santa Cecelia, patron of
musicos), the second day sponsored by the Professionals, The third day sponsored
by Nueva Posada, Fourth day by the Foreign community (with others) Fifth is
bakers and shopkeepers and carpenters, Sixth the Farmers, Seventh the
construction workers, Eighth the gardeners and Ninth the members of the
community who are working in other areas.
The poster says the castillo will be burned every day at 10:30...but be prepared
for it to happen when it happens. That's part of the thrill, the waiting...and
waiting...and waiting.
It is funny to think that many of the local gringos
actually leave the village and go to the beach during late November. They
hate all the noise!! I would not miss any of this for the world!!
Christmas - Large public trees are common here. But what is not
common is what they are constructed from. It could be the corn cobs like the one
below or hop blossoms like the one in Chapala. They just use a huge chicken wire
form and whatever!! A Mexican ingenuity.

Independence Day Parade Pictures-November -This is one block up from where we live!
I love all the little revolutionaries! They are so cute with their painted on
mustaches and their bandoliers! One group used gold painted peanuts as bullets
on the bandoliers.. priceless. The ingenuity of all those mommies!!.
