That first summer when we had torrential rains I posted these pictures of the lake as the rains brought the
water up dramatically. It was a year NOT to be believed. Look at the comparisons
from the previous year to this! The pictures on the left are last year at this time, the
ones on the right is a similar shot of the same area in 2004. First shots are
looking toward the pier in Ajijic. Second set is the road in front of La Nueva
Posada. The last two are shot from the bottom of Pedro Moreno. There you will
see the water in this year's shot is up to the top of the wall that edges the
malecon. By the way from a friend's rain gauge this year so far here in Ajijic
51.2 inches of rain! Upstream all the dams are full so they or their
spillways are also releasing water into the river.
Since then due to more stringent enforcement of the water release agreements
and good rains the water level has remained high. November 2007 the water is
almost to the top of the malecon wall.
